JAKE "IGGY" iGNASZEWSKI
COLLEGE: PLYMOUTH STATE UNIVERSITY ( Graduated in 2021)
MAJOR: SPORTS MANAGEMENT
MINOR/CERTIFICATE: COMMUNICATIONS & SALES
INTERESTS:
On-Camera Reporter, Digital/Social Producer, Photographer & Videographer

A versatile sports media professional with experience as an on-camera reporter/host, videographer, digital/social video producer, content producer, photographer and broadcast production assistant.

I have a strong passion for helping fans gain a deeper connection with their favorite team or players through short or long-form content. My goal with every piece of content I created was to produce compelling content that helped fans engage with the team and learn more about the players on a deeper level to understand who they are under the helmet in order to build brand loyalty.

2022
With the Massachusetts Pirates, I’ve been a “one-man band” media department and have shot, edited and produced over 400 pieces of video, audio and written content, managing all media contacts, managed a team of 10 interns and managed the YouTube and TikTok page. My goal with every piece of content I created was to help the fans engage with the team and learn more about the players on a deeper level to understand who they are under the helmet. I represent the organization as the main media contact, as well as pitch stories to different media outlets.

As the Team Insider, I host, shoot and edit weekly video segments such as the team’s podcast “State of the Pirate Ship”, “The Coaches Corner” & the Pirates Practice Report. I also developed and wrote articles surrounding the team, conducted postgame interviews after every game, post-game recap after every away game and wrote biographies and game notes.

For the Locked On Red Sox podcast, I co-host the podcast with NESN writer Lauren Willand and produce five episodes a week. I update fans about everything that’s happening surrounding the team and get fans involved in every episode. We’ve seen growth in many areas such as our Twitter, YouTube and our listeners have grown by 44%. Even during the MLB Lockout, I still found ways to create content by interviewing Red Sox reporters, players and personalities such as Jared Carrabis, Ian Browne, Bronson Arroyo, Shea Hillenbrand and more. During the 2022 season, we produced 125 episodes with 21.6k views on YouTube and 176,840 total audio downloads, which is a 25% increase from last season. Throughout the season, I was a media credentialed member for the Worcester Red Sox and Portland Sea Dogs and had the opportunity to interview players such as Chris Sale, Michael Wacha, Christian Arroyo, Triston Casas, Ceddanne Rafaela and much more.

IGGY Sports Talk:
Over the last three years, I’ve managed my personal multi-media brand called IGGY Sports and have produced over 2,000 pieces of long/short-form video content with Adobe Premiere that has accumulated over 2 million views. This brand started as a way to help me get experience reporting on sports storylines through social and written content. Over this time, I learned ways to effectively come up with outside-of-the-box content ideas that draw viewers' attention on multiple different social channels. I’ve also developed, produced, and hosted two podcasts called IGGY Sports Talk and BoSox Talk, which combined have over 200 episodes with 80+ guests consisting of athletes and reporters.

I currently still host the podcast IGGY Sports Talk with the goal of inspiring others by telling the stories of athletes, business professionals, and others about how they've overcome their struggles with mental health and sharing the lessons they've learned through their journeys. My goal is to help end the stigma of mental illness in sports and in society through each episode. I've had the opportunity to interview people such as David Meltzer, Shea Hillenbrand, Ryan Westmoreland and more in over 80 episodes.

College:

I attended Plymouth State University for four years and I graduated Cum Laude, majoring in Sports Management with a minor in Professional Communications and a certificate in Professional Sales. After graduation, I received the Top 20 Most Outstanding Senior award and was named a member of Delta Mu Delta for having a GPA in the top 20% of my class.

I began my time in college studying Business Administration during my first two years and changed my major going into my journey year. After I changed my major, I hit the ground running and did anything and everything  I could to find experience around my college campus. Over the past year, I've worked for the Athletic Department as a Public Announcer and Event Staff, became the President of the PSU Sports Management Club, started a sports talk radio show on 91.7 WPCR in Plymouth, wrote for the Plymouth State University Newspaper called the Clock, have spoken at many events on behalf of the Sports Management Department due to my involvement around campus and was featured in the PSU Business Spotlight program. As President of the Sports Management Club, I hosted bi-weekly guest speaker events and hosted Plymouth State's first-ever Work in Sports panel featuring speakers from NESN and Draft Kings.
